Spring Fever

Spring is here and with it comes a bunch of awesome 4-H opportunities. This
E-Newsletter is packed with updates to get you ready for your 4-H spring experience. There is information about new Locally Submitted Projects, Go For The Gold, livestock and policy updates; Member and Alumni stories; summer employment opportunities with 4-H Ontario; and, finally provincial camp and conference updates. New Locally Submitted Projects

A full list of Locally Submitted Projects (LSP) is now posted on 4-HOntario.ca. A total of 26 brand new projects have been added to the list of LSP’s, including a Popcorn Club. The Essex 4-H Popcorn Club, Mr. Popper’s Popcorn Club, has been submitting their Club reports online to share their experience piloting the project. Discovery Days

4-H’r Paula Belliveau was kind enough to share her experience at the Region 4 2011 Discovery Days on the 4-H Ontario blog, 4-H Folklore. Discovery Days is a great opportunity for all youth ages 9-12 to experience what 4-H is all about. You can read about Paula’s Discovery Days experience here >

2012 Go For The Gold Information
The Go For The Gold (GFTG) competition is a great experience for 4-H Members to increase their knowledge of 4-H project materials, and much more, all while doing so in a team atmosphere! There is a local, regional and provincial level of this competition. Participant Cards Coming Soon!
After a historical three year sponsorship of the membership cards, Monsanto Canada, Inc. has decided to now sponsor Youth Adventure Camp. Thank you to Monsanto Canada, Inc. Temple Grandin
The Farm & Food Care Foundation is providing a FREE webcast for 4-H'rs to hear this world renowned speaker!  Famed author, Dr. Temple Grandin, will speak about the undeniable human-animal bond and how animals impact a largely human world. 4-H Ontario is hiring
Coordinator, Volunteer Support – Region 2 (Full Time Permanent position) This position cultivates and nurtures relationships with 4-H Volunteers in their Region through the provision of both programmed and situational support, coaching and training to Volunteers in local Associations.  This position focuses on the functional areas of public relations, retention of Volunteers, and risk management. National 4-H Members' Conference
This year, the National Members’ Conference will be held in Montreal, Quebec from September 19 – 23, 2012.  This years' theme is communications. Visit historic Old Montreal and the Pointe-a-Calliere Museum, tour Olympic Stadium, CBC Radio Canada, the Montreal Science Centre, and more. The application deadline is May 24. Livestock PAIF and Policies
The provincial deadline for Livestock PAIFs is June 1. The forms can be downloaded and filled out from the Policies > section of the website. Please note that as of April 5, Livestock PAIFs were updated, as well as the policies listed here >
