4-H Ontario Announces Freeze in Membership Fees

Nikki Kross, 4-H Ontario | (Posted February 13, 2013)

GUELPH, ON – February 13, 2013

On February 6, John den Haan, President of the Ontario 4-H Council announced that the Ontario 4-H Council Board of Directors voted to maintain membership fees with no increase in 2015, the 100th anniversary of 4-H in Ontario.

In addition to being the 100th anniversary of 4-H Ontario, 2015 marks the first year after the conclusion of the three-year plan covering membership fees for 2012, 2013 and 2014.

That plan, which was announced in August of 2011, involved the implementation of $5 annual increases to cover increased costs in programming, marketing and communications, risk management and volunteer support. At the conclusion of that time frame, in 2014, annual membership fees will amount to $75.

“I am pleased to share this news about membership fees,” said den Haan. “On behalf of the Board of Directors, I can say that we are all very much looking forward to celebrating the 100th anniversary of 4-H Ontario in 2015!”

About 4-H Ontario
Through 4-H Ontario, members, youth aged 9–21, and volunteer leaders come together to create a 4-H club and learn about a selected topic through hands on activities and mentorship. 4-H'rs look to the 4-H motto and take a “Learn To Do By Doing” approach in all they do. Dedicated volunteers work with members to develop leadership and life skills that equip them with tools to reach their full potential and become conscious and contributing citizens. 4-H Ontario believes it is important to look at the big picture; youth need to see beyond themselves and focus on how their actions affect personal relationships, their community, the environment and society as a whole. 4-H in Ontario began in 1915 and has countless alumni across Ontario who continue to contribute to their communities and country.
