4-H Ontario Receives $50,000 Donation to Youth Mental Health Program

4-H Ontario is pleased to announce the organization has received a $50,000 donation from Trillium Mutual Insurance’s ROOTS Community Fund to support 4-H’s Taking Our Mental Health To Heart Program. The Taking Our Mental Health To Heart program will use hands-on learning and the “Learn To Do By Doing” model to equip youth with the skills to adapt and respond to mental health challenges.

4-H Youth Support International Event Through Virtual Biking Out of Isolation Club

Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, 4-H’s virtual Biking Out of Isolation Club gave youth the opportunity to Learn To Do By Doing and support the Ride of Silence, an international biking event. The Ride of Silence is an international event that takes place on the third Wednesday of every May to recognize cyclists who have been killed by motorists, promote road sharing and raise awareness of bicycle safety. On May 20 as their club achievement project, 4-H’ers took part in a 10 km Ride of Silence bike

Cheryl Sullivan Named as New Ontario 4-H Council President

The Ontario 4-H Council is pleased to announce that Cheryl Sullivan of the Carleton 4-H Association has been elected as the new Ontario 4-H Council President. Sullivan assumed the role of President on May 7, 2020 at the Ontario 4-H Council’s virtual Annual General Meeting. She previously held the role of Vice President and will replace outgoing President, Dennis Carnegie.

4-H Ontario Announces 2020 4-H Ontario Arbor Award Recipients

4-H Ontario is proud to announce the recipients of the 2020 4-H Ontario Arbor Award, sponsored by Bayer Crop Science, a prestigious honour recognizing exemplary volunteer service with 4-H in Ontario and the community. In 2020, the following three volunteers were recognized: John Fred Sharpe (Northumberland 4-H Association), Beth Meszaros (Durham East 4-H Association) and Barbara Ann Glaude (Stormont 4-H Association).
