Scholarships for Members

4-H Ontario offers many different scholarships for members to apply too. Here are a few that they offer. For more information on all scholarships, please visit http://www.4-hontario.ca/youth/opportunities/scholarships-grants

Angelo and Frank Agro Undergraduate Scholarships
Deadline: April 15, 2017
For 4-H members attending post-secondary education. Seven awards of $7,000 ($1,750 annually for four years). Applicants must be full-time students entering semester one at the University of Guelph, who have a minimum 75% admission average, having completed at least 10 4-H projects. Applicants submit a point-form listing of their 4-H club activities and a reference letter from a 4-H club official. Scholarship recipients must maintain full time studies and a 70% program average each year for continuation of the award.

Bertram and Hazel Stewart 4-H Dairy Youth Education Award & Bursary
Deadline: October 1, 2017
The Bertram and Hazel Stewart 4-H Dairy Youth Education Award & Bursary honours Bertram and the late Hazel Stewart's deep commitment and passion for agriculture, education, and 4-H. Open to 4-H Ontario members who have been a Dairy Club member for at least three years. At application, prospective winners must be enrolled in grade 9, 10 or 11, with intent to pursue post-secondary education. Presented at the TD Canadian 4-H Dairy Classic Show at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair in the year it is granted, this bursary of $1,000 is payable upon successful completion of the first year of post-secondary schooling.

CIBC 4-H Post-Secondary Education Scholarship
Deadline: May 31, 2017
CIBC is the generous sponsor of eight scholarships - each valued at $1,000 each. Available to 4-H members in their last year of high school or CEGEP who plan to pursue a post-secondary education in the field of engineering, arts, science, business or health in September 2017. Members must apply directly to 4-H Canada: apply.4-h-canada.ca.

GROWMARK, Inc. 2017 Essay Contest
Deadline: May 15, 2017
An essay contest conducted by GROWMARK, Inc. for high school 4-H members in Ontario. Applicants must write a 500-word essay on the theme “What value do co-operatives provide to today’s farmer?". A provincial winner will receive a $500 scholarship, and the 4-H Association of the provincial winner will receive a $300 award. Four runners-up will each receive a $125 scholarship.

Henrike Foerster Memorial 4-H Entrance Scholarship
Deadline: October 6, 2017
A $500 scholarship for a first-year student in the Associate Diploma in Veterinary Technology Program at the University of Guelph's Ridgetown Campus, who has demonstrated involvement in past and current 4-H activities in Ontario.

Justin Parish Memorial Bursary
Deadline: October 1, 2017
This $1000 bursary honours the spirit of Justin's dream of one day attending the Canadian 4-H Dairy Classic Show at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair (RAWF). Presented by Robin and Connie Parish, the Justin Parish Bursary will support a 4-H Ontario Dairy Club Member in attending the RAWF in Toronto. The 4-H member must be attending the Classic Show for the first time as a team member, fitter or herdsperson. The recipient will be chosen by a selection committee and notified by 4-H Ontario. Presentation of the bursary will take place in the show ring during the Classic Show at the 2017 RAWF.

Larry Milton Campbell Memorial Scholarship
Deadline: May 31, 2017
Canadian Meat Council and 4-H Canada are proud to sponsor 2 scholarships, valued at $2,500 each, for 4-H members in their last year of high school or CEGEP who are planning to attend a Canadian university in Food Science, Meat Science or Animal Science in September of 2017, and has his/her roots in farming. For this award, members must apply directly to 4-H Canada at apply.4-h-canada.ca.

Weston Family 4-H Agricultural Scholarships
Deadline: May 31, 2017
The Weston Family 4-H Agricultural Scholarship program offers 4-H members who will be an undergraduate or postgraduate student in an agricultural based certificate, degree, or diploma program at a recognized Canadian post-secondary institution in the fall of 2017. Successful applications receive one full year of tuition at their institution in the appropriate program. Applicants may re-apply each year to receive additional funding. Carrie Purcell - Sygenta 4-H Ontario Arbor Award Winner 2015

A very big congratulations to Carrie Purcell of York 4-H, as she has been awarded the Syngenta 4-H Ontario Arbor Award for 2015. The Syngenta 4-H Ontario Arbor Awards are 4-H Ontario’s most distinguished volunteer awards given out each year at 4-H Ontario’s Conference & Annual Meeting in March. Volunteers are nominated by their local Associations and recipients are chosen by a selection committee. Congratulations Carrie!

Brooke Thompson - Outgoing 2014 Ontario 4-H Ambassador

Brooke Thompson is wrapping up her year as one of five Ontario 4-H Ambassadors! Brooke has been in York 4-H for nine years and has completed over 24 clubs in that time. She was named an Ontario 4-H Ambassador in February 2014. Brooke represented York 4-H and 4-H Ontario extremely well over the past year, attending different events, fairs and 4-H opportunities, promoting 4-H. Thank you Brook for doing and excellent job over the last year!
