Agrium 4-H Youth Leadership Initiative Program

Deadline: October 19, 2012

Offered through the Canadian 4-H Council & Sponsored by Agrium - $50,000 is available to eligible 4-H Clubs, provinces, regions, districts and counties that seek to develop leadership skills in senior 4-H Members. Eligible project areas available for funding include youth asset building, career planning, communication skills training and organization leadership. This grant provides the ability to develop programs that will challenge senior 4-H Members to apply their leadership skills to enhance their local communities.

Growing Forward Business Development Opportunities Program

Deadline: November 23, 2012

Offered through the Canadian 4-H Council & Supported by Agriculture & Agri-Food Canada through the Growing Forward Policy Framework - Canadian 4-H organizations at the national, provincial, regional, district, county and Club levels are eligible to apply. Total funding available is $80,000. Monies will support learning and development activities including agricultural technological skills, leadership, citizenship and business skills.

Sears In Your Community 4-H Grants

Deadline: October 19, 2012

Offered through the Canadian 4-H Council & Sponsored by Sears -This grant program is available for any 4-H Club in Canada. Each Club is eligible to receive up to $1,000. The program provides funding support to 4-H groups that provide after-school programs so youth can have fun while developing leadership, citizenship and life skills in a positive and safe environment. The grant program supports five types of funding requests: (1) new programs, (2) enhancement of existing programs, (3) development of existing programs in a new location, (4) sustaining existing programs, and (5) support for on-going educational workshops related to projects (e.g. public speaking, showmanship, judging, animal care, grooming skills, etc.)

Offered through the Canadian 4-H Council & Sponsored by: The AgriVenture Global and the International Agricultural Exchange Association (IAEA) - A $3,000 scholarship toward an AgriVenture travel and work program for youth 18–30, who have been a 4-H Member for a minimum of two years.

Angelo and Frank Agro Undergraduate Scholarships

This scholarship is for 4-H Members attending post-secondary education, and awards $4,000 ($1,000 annually for four years) to full-time students entering semester one who have attained a minimum 75% admission average and completion of a minimum of 10 4-H projects.

CIBC 4-H Post-Secondary Education Scholarship

Offered through the Canadian 4-H Council & Sponsored by CIBC - Three scholarships per year, valued at $2,500 each, for 4-H Members in their last year of high school or CEGEP. Winners must use the funds within two years of receipt of the award for attendance at a Canadian post-secondary institution. Funding may be used for tuition, books and/or lodging.

GROWMARK, Inc. 2012 Essay Contest

This essay contest is sponsored by GROWMARK and participating FS member co-operatives. The contest is for high-school 4-H Members in Ontario. The 2012 theme is: “Co-operatives in a Global Environment” as 2012 has been named The International Year of Co-operatives by the United Nations. A provincial 4-H winner will receive a $500 scholarship and the 4-H Association of the provincial winner will receive a $300 award. Four runners-up will receive a $125 scholarship each.

Canadian International Farm Show 'Youth In Agriculture' Bursary

Deadline: March 1, 2012

A $2,500 bursary will be awarded to a student currently in their first year of an agricultural related program at an accredited Canadian university or college. Applicants must show both academic achievement and financial need, and must not have reached the age of 30 before January 1st, 2012. Strong preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate rural leadership or strong community involvement in organizations like the Junior Farmers’ Association of Ontario.

Farm Management Canada Excellence Award for Ag Students

Each year, the CFBMC collects submissions from agricultural students across Canada and awards three winners with $1,000 towards furthering their education in agriculture. The Canadian Merit Scholarship Foundation Loran Award

Deadline: September 3, 2012

Application deadline: Fall 2012. The Loran Award is for students in their graduating year of uninterrupted full-time studies in high school or CEGEP. Exceptions may be considered for those who have undertaken a gap year for academic pursuits or community service-based activities. The award is renewable for up to four years. It includes an annual tuition waiver and a stipend of $8,000, access to funding and internships through our summer program, invitations to annual gatherings and forums, and mentorship opportunities.
