Agrium 4-H Youth Leadership Initiative Program

Deadline: October 19, 2012

Offered through the Canadian 4-H Council & Sponsored by Agrium - $50,000 is available to eligible 4-H Clubs, provinces, regions, districts and counties that seek to develop leadership skills in senior 4-H Members. Eligible project areas available for funding include youth asset building, career planning, communication skills training and organization leadership. This grant provides the ability to develop programs that will challenge senior 4-H Members to apply their leadership skills to enhance their local communities.

Growing Forward Business Development Opportunities Program

Deadline: November 23, 2012

Offered through the Canadian 4-H Council & Supported by Agriculture & Agri-Food Canada through the Growing Forward Policy Framework - Canadian 4-H organizations at the national, provincial, regional, district, county and Club levels are eligible to apply. Total funding available is $80,000. Monies will support learning and development activities including agricultural technological skills, leadership, citizenship and business skills.

Sears In Your Community 4-H Grants

Deadline: October 19, 2012

Offered through the Canadian 4-H Council & Sponsored by Sears -This grant program is available for any 4-H Club in Canada. Each Club is eligible to receive up to $1,000. The program provides funding support to 4-H groups that provide after-school programs so youth can have fun while developing leadership, citizenship and life skills in a positive and safe environment. The grant program supports five types of funding requests: (1) new programs, (2) enhancement of existing programs, (3) development of existing programs in a new location, (4) sustaining existing programs, and (5) support for on-going educational workshops related to projects (e.g. public speaking, showmanship, judging, animal care, grooming skills, etc.)

Agriventure Scholarship International Agricultural Exchange

Deadline: November 30, 2012

Offered through the Canadian 4-H Council & Sponsored by: The AgriVenture Global and the International Agricultural Exchange Association (IAEA) - A $3,000 scholarship toward an AgriVenture travel and work program for youth 18–30, who have been a 4-H Member for a minimum of two years.

Angelo and Frank Agro Undergraduate Scholarships

Deadline: April 15, 2012

This scholarship is for 4-H Members attending post-secondary education, and awards $4,000 ($1,000 annually for four years) to full-time students entering semester one who have attained a minimum 75% admission average and completion of a minimum of 10 4-H projects.

CIBC 4-H Post-Secondary Education Scholarship

Deadline: November 16, 2012

Offered through the Canadian 4-H Council & Sponsored by CIBC - Three scholarships per year, valued at $2,500 each, for 4-H Members in their last year of high school or CEGEP. Winners must use the funds within two years of receipt of the award for attendance at a Canadian post-secondary institution. Funding may be used for tuition, books and/or lodging.

Grenville Mutual 4-H Scholarships - Region 2 Member

Deadline: July 13, 2012

Two (2) scholarships of $1,000 awarded. The 4-H Member must be: currently enrolled in the 4-H program in Region 2; a 4-H Member for at least two (2) years; entering or is currently enrolled in a Post Secondary Education Program at College or University for the year 2012.

GROWMARK, Inc. 2012 Essay Contest

Deadline: May 15, 2012

This essay contest is sponsored by GROWMARK and participating FS member co-operatives. The contest is for high-school 4-H Members in Ontario. The 2012 theme is: “Co-operatives in a Global Environment” as 2012 has been named The International Year of Co-operatives by the United Nations. A provincial 4-H winner will receive a $500 scholarship and the 4-H Association of the provincial winner will receive a $300 award. Four runners-up will receive a $125 scholarship each.

Henrike Foerster Memorial 4-H Entrance Scholarship

Deadline: October 1, 2012

Offered by the Agro Scholarship Fund - A $500 scholarship for 4-H youth in post-secondary education entering the Veterinary Technology Program at the University of Guelph’s Ridgetown College. For more details contact Ridgetown College, University of Guelph by calling (519) 674-1524.

Justin Parish Memorial Bursary

Deadline: September 14, 2012

This $500 bursary honours the spirit of Justin’s dream of one day attending the Classic Show at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair, his love of farming, and 4-H. Presented by the Parish Family, this bursary will support a 4-H Ontario Dairy Club Member to attend the Royal in Toronto, Ontario for the first time.

TD 4-H Agriculture Scholarships

Deadline: October 14, 2012

Offered through the Canadian 4-H Council & Sponsored by TD Bank Financial Group - Up to 10 scholarships valued at $2,500 each for 4-H Members in their last year of high school who are planning to enroll in post-secondary education in an agriculture or agri-business related discipline. Along with post-secondary planning, winners are selected based on their numerical grade point average.

Western Fair 4-H Achiever

Canadian International Farm Show 'Youth In Agriculture' Bursary

Deadline: March 1, 2012

A $2,500 bursary will be awarded to a student currently in their first year of an agricultural related program at an accredited Canadian university or college. Applicants must show both academic achievement and financial need, and must not have reached the age of 30 before January 1st, 2012. Strong preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate rural leadership or strong community involvement in organizations like the Junior Farmers’ Association of Ontario.

Farm Management Canada Excellence Award for Ag Students

Deadline: February 28, 2012

Each year, the CFBMC collects submissions from agricultural students across Canada and awards three winners with $1,000 towards furthering their education in agriculture. The award is designed to help students develop their communication skills by having the opportunity to voice their opinion on a on a subject related to farm management.

FWIO Helen McKercher Scholarship

Deadline: June 30, 2012

A $1,200 scholarship to assist an undergraduate student who has completed his/her program to pursue a post-graduate degree in Family and Consumer Studies, Home Economics or a related program. This scholarship was established in 1976 to recognize Helen McKercher’s years of service to FWIO as Director of the Women’s Institute and Home Economics Service.

FWIO Provincial Scholarship

Deadline: June 1, 2012

A $1,000 scholarship for full-time students entering a first year post-secondary institution. Application includes a 500 word essay on the topic of “Effect of Climate Change on Agriculture”, and three reference letters from applicant’s community, or school.

Holstein Canada Education Awards

Jersey Canada Scholarship

Deadline: September 1, 2012

The Youth Committee of Jersey Canada provides one scholarship per year in the amount of $750 to a deserving university or college student who is enrolled in at least the second year of post-secondary studies and has an involvement with the Jersey breed. Monsanto Canada Opportunity Scholarship Program

A $1500 award for students entering their first year of post-secondary education in agriculture.

Ontario Dairy Youth Trust and Ontario Holstein Branch Scholarship

Deadline: June 15, 2011

For youth of all dairy breeds, eight scholarships of $750 will be awarded (four degree and four diploma)to post-secondary students.

Ontario Women's Institute Scholarships

Deadline: April 1, 2012

Up to three awards of $1,000 each to assist students studying at the University of Guelph, College of Social and Applied Human Sciences. Since 1947, these Scholarships have been presented by FWIO in recognition of the women who pioneered the Women’s Institute in Ontario.

The Canadian Merit Scholarship Foundation Loran Award

Deadline: September 3, 2012

Application deadline: Fall 2012. The Loran Award is for students in their graduating year of uninterrupted full-time studies in high school or CEGEP. Exceptions may be considered for those who have undertaken a gap year for academic pursuits or community service-based activities. The award is renewable for up to four years. It includes an annual tuition waiver and a stipend of $8,000, access to funding and internships through our summer program, invitations to annual gatherings and forums, and mentorship opportunities.
