Volunteer Recognition

Volunteer recognition is very important to us

Volunteer recognition is very important. The recognition that a volunteer receives is compared to a 'pay cheque'. Volunteer recognition may take many forms.

4-H Ontario recognizes each 4-H Volunteer with a certificate. Recognition is further given at 5- year increments. Special letters of congratulations are received starting at 25 years and for 5- year increments.

Local 4-H Associations are encouraged to develop their own volunteer recognition program that will best suit the needs to their volunteers.

The Co-Operators and the Canadian 4-H Foundation also recognize ten leaders (one per province) and one National Winner through the Co-Operators 4-H National Volunteer Leader of the Year Award. To find out more about this award, click on this link to go directly to the Canadian 4-H Council site at http://www.4-h-canada.ca/programs/?path=Scholarships+and+Awards/ or select the bilingual information & application package located here.

As well, during 2001, the International Year of Volunteers, 4-H Ontario initiated a new volunteer recognition- Syngenta 4-H Ontario Arbor Award for Volunteers. The Arbor Award recognizes the outstanding contribution made by volunteers to the Ontario 4-H program.
