Co-operators/4-H National Volunteer Leader of the Year Award

The Canadian 4-H Council and the Co-operators are now seeking nominations for the Co-operators/4-H National Volunteer Leader of the Year Award.
If you know of a 4-H leader whose time and devotion deserves to be recognized, you can nominate them today. 4-H members are encouraged to nominate their leader, and provide examples on how their leader has made their community a better place, and why their leader deserves the Co-operators/4-H National Volunteer Leader of the Year Award.

2010 marks the 10th year that this award has been given out, which includes a cash prize, and the chance to be recognized as the Grand Prize winner of the award with a trip to the Canadian 4-H Council Annual Conference and General Meeting. Make sure you nominate a leader today!

Where's Your Sign CONTEST! Deadline extended to September 30th!

How can you enter the contest?
Locate a 4-H flag, municipal/township sign with the logo, or a 4-H gate sign. Take a photo (high resolution - 300 dpi preferred), determine the GPS coordinates and send the photo and GPS coordinates to: communications@4-hontario.ca
Each complete (and eligible) entry will receive a ballot in the contest.
You may enter as many times as you wish providing you are submitting a unique and different sign each time.
Contest closes at midnight on September 30, 2010.
Draw will be held and winners announced in October 2010.

4-H Ontario and JFAO partner for Summer Games

Ministry of Health Promotion and Sport 2010-2011 Healthy Communities Fund
(Guelph, ON - August 17, 2010) The Ministry of Health Promotion and Sport, 2010-2011 Healthy Communities Fund announced a $36,000 grant to 4-H Ontario, for a joint partnership between 4-H Ontario and Junior Farmers of Ontario (JFAO) to hold six regionally based Summer Games events.

Darlene Goodfellow

The 4-H family grieves the loss of 4-H Leader, Darlene Goodfellow of Napanee, Ontario. Our heartfelt thoughts and prayers go out to her husband and 4-H Leader Dave Goodfellow and their three children, 4-H Members Alissa, Sarina, and Nadia.
A memorial service in Darlene's honour is being planned, of which details - once confirmed - will be released.

Gord Bamford Nominated for 2010 CCMA Fans' Choice Award

(Toronto, ON) July 22, 2010 - The Canadian Country Music Association announced the nominees for the 2010 CCMA Fans' Choice Award: Gord Bamford, George Canyon, Doc Walker, Corb Lund and Johnny Reid.

Beginning Friday, July 23 until Saturday, September 11 at 11:59pm EST, the public can vote online at www.ccma.org for their favourite Canadian Country Star. The winner will be announced during the CCMA Awards at Rexall Place in Edmonton, Alberta on Sunday, September 12, 2010.
