Summer Position: Program AssistantClick to expand

Position:

Program Assistant
33 hours per week

Position is home-office based, with regular travel in Ontario. Frequent travel to the 4-H Ontario office in Rockwood, Ontario will also be required.

Position Summary:

The Program Assistant facilitates programming at 4-H Youth Adventure Camp, Career Mania and other events as requested. The role works to promote 4-H member events and facilitate 4-H member focus groups, and assists in the coordination of provincial livestock initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with Coordinator Programming & Events as well as staff and volunteers to develop and deliver 4-H programming and events Support registration and logistical components of programs and events
  • Maintain accurate records of expenses incurred while completing duties
  • Maintain concise, detailed written documentation of activities/events assigned during contract period

Characteristics:

The ideal candidate will have excellent skills in the following areas:

  • Demonstrated experience in facilitating youth
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Proven recreation and leadership skills
  • Contagious enthusiasm
  • Motivated self-starter with ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrated experience in organizing and coordinating events
  • Excellent computer skills, knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and internet
  • Good listening and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work as a team member
  • Knowledgeable about 4-H Ontario programs

Qualifications:

  • Experience in the 4-H program and/or other community youth programming is an asset 
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle for use for business purposes on a regular basis

  • Must have access to telephone, computer, internet, email and fax machine/scanner

  • Must be willing to be screened in accordance to 4-H Ontario policy

  • First Aid Certification is an asset
