4-H Ontario

Alumni Roll Call

Do you remember doing Roll Call before each 4-H Club meeting? Well it’s Roll Call time once again. Think about your 4-H experience. As a 4-H Ontario Member or Club Leader did you:

  • Sew your first apron, dress or tea cozy? Raise an animal?
  • Survive your first public speech or demonstration?
  • Meet your husband or wife in a Club or at a camp? Make lifelong friends?
  • Travel to another part of the province, country or world?
  • Go to Leadership Week or Homemaking Conference?

Chances are you did at least one of these things. Involvement in 4-H has benefitted many people and it continues to do so today. Since 1915 the 4-H program in Ontario has made a difference in the lives of hundreds of thousands of 4-H Members, Volunteers and Club Leaders like you. In fact, over the last 60 years in Ontario, there have been an estimated 400,000 youth and adults who have been 4-H Members and/or Leaders. We would like to get to know you again and help you reconnect with other 4-H Alumni. It’s Roll Call time once again! Tell us your name, and where you've been!

One of the services being developed is a stronger 4-H Ontario Alumni database to help Alumni reconnect. When the Ontario 4-H Council assumed the administration of the 4-H program in 2000, the majority of historical Alumni information could not be transferred due to privacy considerations. As a result, the current 4-H Ontario Alumni database represents a very small percentage of the total estimated Alumni. 4-H Ontario’s partnership with HylandTM Seeds has given 4-H Ontario the fantastic opportunity of reconnecting with Alumni to rebuild and strengthen the 4-H Alumni network.

Registered 4-H Alumni will receive copies of the 4-H Ontario magazine “Leadership In Action”, as well as news about Alumni activities and services (including centennial celebrations), Volunteer opportunities, contests, fundraisers and 4-H Ontario events.

“4-H and its volunteers and staff made a positive impact on me and I hope that it continues to do so for future generations.”

- Ann

In preparation for 4-H Ontario’s centennial year, 4-H Ontario staff are developing services and activities to help reconnect 4-H Alumni in communities and across the province. But first, your input is needed on what those Alumni activities and services should be. Do you want reunions, activities in your local community, a 4-H documentary to be made, an Alumni baseball tournament? Now is the time to let us know.
